Abia discovers 8, 000 ghost workers

Ghost-workers
Godson Adiele, Abia State’s Head of Service (HOS), on Monday, announced that no fewer than 8,000 ghost workers were recently discovered in the state and local government public services.

Adiele disclosed this to journalists in Umuahia, while talking about the proposed civic reception being organised by the state workers in honour of Governor Theodore Orji.

According to him, the ghost workers were discovered when his office adopted the biometric system to audit workers on the state government’s payroll.

The HOS said that no fewer than 5,000 ghost workers were uncovered in the state civil service, while 3,000 others were from the local governments.Adiele said that the findings had helped the government to save money previously paid to non-existent workers.

He explained that the civic reception was organised in appreciation of the governor’s efforts to motivate public servants in the state.
