Gulder Ultimate Search contestant pleads with judge

The Gulder Ultimate Search (GUS) season 10 – the Tenth symbol, on Sunday took an emotional turn as Edmund Chukwubuike, one of the contestants, pleaded with the council of elders for another chance to prove himself in the jungle of Osaka in Akwa Ibom state.

The 27-year old medical doctor from Enugu state emerged the weakest link in the task (table maze) given to them by the anchor, Chidi Mokeme, the consequence of which was an automatic eviction from the quest for the tenth symbol.

The anchor had asked the other contestants to present a goodbye speech to a sobbing Edmund, before the council of elders intervened and gave him another chance in the game.

At the place of the talking drum, which comes up every fortnight, issues from the day’s activities are discussed and defaulting contestants know their fate while winners in daily tasks are rewarded.

Sunday, October 27, was also the last time the contestants would be at the place of the talking drum as the search for the Tenth symbol has almost come to an end.

The Gulder Ultimate Search is a reality show created and sponsored by the Nigerian Breweries and has since its inception in 2004, broken the tradition this year as the 12 contestants were divided into two different camps, The Sword Tribe and the Spear Tribe, with the strongest links from both sides forming the Hammer Tribe.

So far, eight contestants: Etido Ema Ebong, Ijeh Peter, Halima Sheidu, Adeboye Mary, Adeboye Martha, Anthony Brosu, Tracy Chapele and Salako Olukunle have been evicted from the show.

Viewers await the pronouncement of the eventual winner of the GUS 10 who will also receive a cash prize of N10million and a brand new Mitsubishi Pajero.
