The late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, has been named the top-earning dead celebrity by Forbes.

Jackson, with an income of $160m (£99m) between October 2012 and October 2013, reclaimed the top spot from Elizabeth Taylor, who earned $210m (£129.9m) in the 12 months after her death in 2011 from auctions of her art, jewels and clothes.
This year, her earnings dropped to an estimated $25 million (£15.46m) landing her in fourth place on the list.
The bulk of Jackson’s earnings came from Cirque du Soleil shows which feature a hologram of the singer performing his hit ‘Man In The Mirror’.

Jackson also accumulates his fortune from his music and his half of the Sony/ATV catalog, which includes hits by The Beatles, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift.

Jackson died in June 2009 just weeks before his comeback tour ‘This Is It’ was due to start at London’s O2 Arena.

Other celebrities that made it on to the Top-Earning Dead Celebrities list include Bob Marley, Elvis Presley, Charles M Schulz, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and John Lennon.
