ASUU Strike: Only in Nigeria can lecturers do such a thing – Anglican church

ASUU2
The Bishop of Diocese of Lagos West, the Rt. Revd. James Odedeji has condemned the ongoing ASUU strike in the country, saying  that insecurity in the country was bound to rise as a result of the impasse between the group and the Federal Government.

Speaking at a one-day synod of the church at Archbishop Vinning Memorial Church Cathedral in Ikeja, Lagos, Odedeji said there would be increase in rate of sophisticated crime if the strike was not brought to a halt.

He said, “It is only in a country like this that teachers in our universities will embark on strike for as long as three months without a solution to the problem which led to the face-off.”

The Bishop blamed politicians for focusing on 2015 politics to the detriment of other pressing national issues.
“A lot of events are now being revealed to convince Nigerians that our elected office holders have abandoned us to struggle for positions in far away 2015,” he said.

He called on the PDP led government to put aside bickering and focus on national development, in line with promises made to the electorate.
