Mike Tyson Interviewed on Fox 59 Morning News. |
In a new Foot Locker ad campaign, boxer Mike
Tyson innocently rings Evander Holyfield’s doorbell and hands the heavyweight
champ a box, saying, “I’m sorry, Evander. It’s your ear.” Then the old boxing
rivals hug it out. While in reality Holyfield had his ear sewn back on hours
after Mike Tyson bit it off during a 1997 boxing match, the moment in the
60-second TV spot, is strangely poignant.
The ad, which premiered on ESPN
as part of a week-long sneaker promotion, is filled with moments sure to get
sports fans nodding along with a knowing grin. There’s Brett Favre, the former
Green Bay Packer, New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings quarterback who is
notoriously bad at staying retired, turning down a second helping of breakfast.
“It was great. But a man’s got to know when to walk away,” says the QB. There’s
Dennis Rodman buying a one-way ticket to North Korea as the ticket agent
gleefully shouting, “Whooh!” Then there’s Tyson returning the ear, just in time
for Christmas.
