Many have wondered why former Chelsea manager, Roberto Di Matteo
hasn’t landed a new managerial job since being relieved of his duties at
Stanford Bridge last year.
The Italian seeming isolation from the football world is now a subject of several curious insinuations with some suggesting that the former Italy international is taking a much deserved hiatus from the game, while others believed Di Matteo is taking his time in hope of landing a job with one of Europe’s top clubs.
However, new facts has emerge that might go some way in explaining
the former West Brom gaffer’s decision to stay on the sidelines.
Apparently, Di Matteo is still being paid by Chelsea. The tactician and
the London club were unable to reach an agreement on a severance package
when they parted ways early last season therefore Chelsea would have to
continue paying his wages till his contract expires in 2014.
The amount in question is £130,000 weekly, and Chelsea will only be able to stop paying if Di Matteo gets another job between now and the expiration of his contract with Stanford Bridge.

Report has it that the Italian has indeed had several managerial offers
from clubs across Europe but none were willing to meet or surpass his
current earnings, he therefore turned them down.
