died. The 45-year-old pop star was the latest victim of a celebrity
death hoax on Nov. 9, and not surprisingly, she is not very happy about
it.

Fake stories about the singer’s death began circulating and building
steam on Facebook through an app that uses logos from well-known news
outlets to entice users to click, according to 7News. One story said
that Celine died in a car crash, while another claimed it was a plane
crash.
And huge news like Celine’s death — no matter how fake — has a tendency to spread like wildfire on social media. After starting on Facebook, the hoax leaked onto Twitter:
“Sometimes it’s freaky because I have to call my family about it,”
she told Digital Spy. “I was celebrating the birthday of my twins in
Montreal and I was getting these phone calls saying there was stuff on
Facebook that I was dead.”
