A group of armed men clad in Army uniform, early Friday morning
invaded the National Assembly legislative quarters in Apo, Abuja,
DailyPost has learnt.
The gunmen it was gathered struck at about 2:30am on Friday, firing several gunshots that shattered the peaceful neighbourhood.
The motive of the attack is still unknown but residents some about ten persons were shot by the assailants.
Unconfirmed reports say eight were killed, while two others were wounded.
A resident told DailyPost Friday afternoon that “I heard the
gunshots. Those living around there said about ten people were shot just
behind the mosque inside the quarters”.
“There is an uncompleted building behind the mosque where the incident happened”
Efforts to get the reaction of Mr. Femi Ogunbayode, Commissioner of
Police, FCT Command, proved abortive as calls to his mobile line went
unanswered.
He has not replied a text message by our reporter as at the time of filling this report.
