After My Tenure, I’ll Return To Lecturing – Gov. Shettima

Kashim Shettima
Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State yesterday revealed that he still had the intention of going back to school to acquire a PhD degree after the expiration of his tenure as governor.

The governor, who is an agricultural economist, made this known when he received the governing council of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) led by the pro-chancellor and chairman of council, Alhaji Balama Manu in his office.

According to the governor, his ambition is to become an “intellectual in the true sense”.

“I have a Masters degree, but after the political interregnum I wish to go back and get a PhD so that one can become a true intellectual in the real sense,” he said.

He said though he left the University of Maiduguri where he lectured for two years for the banking sector, he is still passionate about returning to the classroom.

Gov. Shettima noted that although he achieved financial breakthrough in the banking sector, he still prefers to be addressed as a former lecturer.

The governor added that the university community remains the best as it accommodates diverse ideologies.
