Do you really have what it takes to be an artiste?

Music is a universal language,no matter the genre it has the power to
touch the deepest parts of the heart. It also has transformed the lives
of so many although it has later turned out to bring the downfall of
some.

Little wonder we have so many artistes today not only in Nigeria but
the whole world but i would just like to pose a few questions to the
"wannabe" artiste.

1. Do you really love music?:When you have love for something, you
don't make monetary gratification the sole reason for doing
it.Unfortunately in this part of the the world most people go into
music because they feel its the quickest route to riches,if you are in
this category,i am sorry to say this but you won't get far.

2. Do you have any form of education?: The importance of education
cannot be overemphasized in any industry,as an artiste you would do
well to have an education, you might say"well some of the richest
artistes today dropped out of school"but if you watch closely most of
them are going back to get their Diplomas and Degrees,so do your best
to get any form of education, even if it is OND.You will need it.

3.What Genre of music will you go into?:This is one question that i
always like to ask anyone i know who wants to go into music,if its Hip
Hop,RnB,Fuji,Dancehall,
Traditional even"pangolo"music,let your
audience know.

4.Are you willing to expand your horizon?:This is a bit linked to
question "3",just because you do a particular genre it doesn't mean
you shouldn't branch out to other genres but it is advisable you limit
it to collaborations,we all heard what M.I and Flavour did,Jay Z and
Linkin Park,Nelly and Tim McGraw. These artistes fused their different
genres and gave us beautiful music without losing their identity.

I will like to stop here for now but after pondering over these
question."Do you really have what it takes to be an artiste?"

Till next time,in the words of John Cena"Never Give Up".
