Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer to late Head
of State, General Sani Abacha, has decried the lingering face-off
between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of
Universities (ASUU).
Speaking in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital on Tuesday when he met with
youth leaders, Al-Mustapha pleaded with ASUU to call of their over
three-month old strike as every day lost is a disaster to the nation.
He said, “When I went to Kaduna, I begged student leaders and ASUU, I
also begged the federal government for them to find a solution to the
problem”.
The former security aide while justifying his call on the FG and ASUU to
find an amicable and quick resolution to the strike that has grounded
academic activities to a halt in the nation’s universities said, “We
should not be seen as producing half-baked leaders for this country
tomorrow.”
