Federer doesn’t want to be No.1 again – Nadal

Federer...on Monday.
World No.2 Rafael Nadal, who won the US Open 2013, has said that his career-long rival Roger Federer no longer wishes to compete for the World No.1 again TennisEarth.com reports.

Nadal, who on the other hand is in pole position to become World No.1 after a scintillating season, has himself comeback from a position of dire straits after missing seven months of action.

Nevertheless, Nadal seems to think that Federer no longer wants to become the No.1 player in the world. Having turned 32, the Swiss has endured a troublesome year thus far and has managed winning just the one title. At one point in the season, Roger had slipped down to seventh place in the ATP rankings.

Nadal said,  “With Federer, I have shared and continue to share a rivalry since I started out. We have lived very beautiful moments in our careers.

“I don’t think his main goal is to return to the world number one spot. That is my feeling. His goal is to stay competitive to win tournaments that he really wants to win, more than being world number one.”
